Mallinsons Brewing Company!

We are a micro brewery based in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire.

We brew high quality cask conditioned real ales and bottle conditioned beers.

Over the years, we have gained a reputation for producing crisp, clean flavoured hoppy ales. Our speciality is single hopped variety ales. We are redularly trying new hop varieties and blending different hops to create new flavours. We always stock a variety of single hopped beers, as well as semi-regulars and new one-off brews which enable us the explore different hop and malt combinations.

This ia a pale ale brewed using Azacca, Hercules and Simcoe hops. The Nose is fruity and hoppy with a medium bitter taste containing soft fruit notes. The finish is dry with a bitter kick.

Our multi-award winning single hopped beer! Described as: "A very pale ale, brewed using Citra hops. Amazing grapefruit and light mango nose, bitter hoppy citrus taste, with a bitter grapefruit and light passion fruit finish."

Bramling Cross

One of our range of single hopped beers brewed only using Bramling Cross hops from the UK.
Described as
"A golden colour witha light blackcurrent fruit nose from the use of Bramling Cross hops. A bitter fruity light blackcurrent taste and a fruity tarte finish"

One of our range of single hopped beers, brewed only using Chinook hops. 
Described as "Golden colour with a light citrus hop nose, bitter lightly citrusy taste and a long bitter slightly dry finish. Brewed using only Chinook hops from the USA."

Nelson Sauvin

One of our single hopped range of beers, brewed using Nelson Sauvin hops from New Zealand. Described as "a golden coloured ale, with a lovely citrusy grapefruit nose, a hoppy citrus taste followed by a similar finish."

One of our range of single hopped beers brewed only using Motueka hops from New Zealand. Described as: "A blonde beer with a juicy, fruity hop aroma, a bitter taste and a hoppy fruity bitter finish"

8th - 12th July 2015 - Star Beer Festival

This week sees the return of the awesome Star Beer Festival, just down the road from us at Folly Hall in Huddersfield. Once again Sam and the team will be providing an exceptional range of hand pumped ales, as well as two festival specials from us. Come along - we'll be there!

15th June 2015 - Big Screen Event

The weekend of Friday June 26th sees the start of Huddersfield first Big Screen Weekend, running from 10am to 9pm each. Movies will be displayed on the big screen in St Georges square with stalls selling food and drink. Our beers will be avaiable from the Star Inn's festival stall.

1st June 2015 - Brewery and Shop Opening Times

Due to staff holidays over the next couple of weeks, the shop and brewery will not always be open to the public. If you need to collect bottles or casks, please contact the brewery on 01484654301 to arrange for collection.

11th May 2015 - General News

Intrepid train travellers can partake of our beers once again now that the Penistone Line Partnership had resumed it's music train service. The trains depart from Huddersfield on selected Mondays at 19.18, calling at all stations to Shellield. Please check on the Penistone Line website for dates.

30th March 2015 - Tour De Yorkshire News

We have just brewed our special beer to celebrate the Tour De Yorkshire which will be heading our way on 1st - 3rd May! This pale and hoppy beer called "Up Hill Down Dale" will be in high demand from many of the pubs on the route, so get your orders in early to avoid disappointment!

Wednesday 18th March - Sunday 22nd March - Star Beer Festival

We love the Star Beer Festival! Over 40 different ales, all hand pumped from the cellar. This time we will be doing two dry hopped specials just for the festival!

Come along and enjoy - it's all happening down at Folly Hall, Lockwood!

26th January - New in the Shop

We have managed to obtain beers from Here Be Monsters, Huddersfield's latest craft brewery. The beers are called "Dark Fury" and "Black Annis" and are available in a Little Shop of Bottles.

22nd December - Brewery Shop Now Open

We've finally openend our brewery shop! Initially we are just selling our beers, those of Briggs Signature Ales and T-shirts and glasses. We are hoping to expand our range to include other breweries in the near future.

20th December - The Star Inn Tap Takeover

The Star Inn at Folly Hall is having a Mallinson's / Briggs Signature Ales Tap Takeover this weekend. We will be featuring 3 takeover specials, as well as our usual Mallinsons pump!

8th December - Brewery Shop to Open

Mallinson's will soon have a shop! Our little shop of bottles will be open on the brewery site, initially just to sell our own bottles and souveniers. We hope to eventually expand our range to include bottles from other breweries that really love! Watch this space or Twitter / Facebook for more news regarding launch date /opening times. Cheers!

Blimey! Is it that time of year again? We will have two festival specials on the bar at the always excellent Star Beer Festival, as well as the usual selection of bottles and gift packs. Come along for some top notch cellar cooled ale!!

Friday 14th November - Brewsters Tap Takeover

On Friday, we will be heading up to Brigantes in York for a Brewsters Tap Takeover with Michelle from Offbeat Brewery. They'll be lots of ales to try and lots of chat about beer!

Sunday 2nd November - Halloween Train 

This coming Sunday we're very excited to be experiening the Peniston Line Partnership's Ghost Train, travelling with beer along the Settle Carlisle line. Mallinsons beer and beer from other local breweries will be served on the train!

Thursday 2nd October - Sat 4th 2014 - Huddersfield Oktoberfest

It's Oktoberfest in Huddersfield again! We'll be showcasing three of our ales this year and will probably be found loitering aound the festival quite a lot (especially Thursday night)

Wednesday 17th - Sat 20th September 2014 - York Beer Festival

This week sees the start of the always excellent York Beer festival held at the Knavesmire in York. This year we'll be showcasing four different beers!

1st September 2014 - New CLT

We've finally installed our new Cold Liquor Tank which has freed up lots of floorspace for further developments in the brewery. In the next few months we are hoping to install another 15 barrel fermentor!

7th August 2014 - Food and Drink Festival

The Huddersfield Food and Drink Festival with be starting on Thursday 7-10th August. Lots of food and drink will be on sale and our beers will be available from the Star Pub's own beer stall..

14 July 2014 - Star Beer Festival

Next Wednesday (23rd July) see the start of he Star Inn Beer Festival at the pub in Folly Hall, Huddersfield. Over 40 different beers are usually available, including two festival specials off us.

12 May 2014 - New Beers

We've just brewed our World Cup beer called "Still Gleaming" - this will be available on the week commencing the 2nd June. Get your orders in early, to avoid disappointment!

24th-27th April 2014 - Happy Birthday to The Sportsman

The Sportsman in Huddersfield celebrates it's fifth Birthday this weekend! We invited landlady Sam Smith to come and brew a beer to celebrate this, and the result "The fifth" will be on the bar over the weekend. Enjoy!

19th-23rd March 2014 - Star Beer Fest!

It's here again and you know we love it! This time we'll be having two dry hopped festival specials out in the Marquee Bar, as well as our constantly rotating Mallinsons pump on the inside bar. Don't miss it - it's awesome (and we'll probably be there most days, so come along and say "Hi")

18th November 2013 - Festival Specials and Brewery News

This week sees the start of the excellent Star Winter Beer Festival in Huddersfield - we'll be featuring two festival specials - "Pulp Citron" and "Intense" 

In other brewery news, one of our Brewers, Nick will be launching his own range of ales, initially using our plant to cuckoo. Nick will still continue to brew beers for Mallinsons. His venture is called Briggs Signature Ales. Check out his website HERE

28th October 2013 - Local Halloween Specials!

We have produced two different dry hopped festival specials which will be appearing locally! One will be on at the Rat and Ratchett Halloween Beer Festival between 31st Oct and 3rd November. The other will be at The Sportsman Harvest Festival Halloween Celebration on November 1st.

14th October 2013 - Awards!

We are delighted to announce that our single hopped Nelson Sauvin won Bitter of the Festival and the Charlie Award for Overall Beer of the Festival At Huddersfield Oktoberfest 2013. Thanks to all those people that voted for us!

6th Septmber - New Brewer!

We are very pleased to announce that we have taken on a new addition to our brewing team. Nick Briggs (formerly from Elland Brewery) has already been sharing the brewing duties with Tara and Elaine for the past couple of weeks. Welcome aboard Nick!"

This Week sees the start of the annual Peterborough Beer Festival. We've sent down lots of beers this year, including Mount Pleasant Mild, Amarillo, Castle Hill Premium and a dry hopped special called "Prior's Gate" 

1th July - Coming soon - Monkeyfest

This Weekend (Sat 6th-Sun 7th July) sees the annual excellent Monkeyfest at Armitage Bridge Club. We will be providing a dry hopped special called "Staying Up" to celebrate Huddersfield Town's continued presence in the Champioship.

28th May 2013 - Book Launch

This Thursday (May 30th) we'll be heading over to the York Tap alongside lots of other brewers to celebrate the release of a book called "Great Yorkshire Beer" by Leigh Linley. It's a great read and chocked full of information about brewers, breweries and recipees. And we're in it. Hope to see you there!

13th May 2013 - Coming Soon

At the end of the month (Bank Holiday weekend 24th-27th May), the Star pub in Huddersfield is holding a Mini-Mild and Mallinsons Festival. As well a good selection of milds from other breweries, we'll be providing several festival specials, all focusing on the hops!

We are really looking forward to heading over to Liverpool this Wednesday 10th April for  a Meet the Brewsters event at the Lion Tavern at 7.30pm

It was a delight to hear from the organisers of this year's Pendle Beer Festival that we had won overall Beer of the Festival with our single hopped Columbus. Thanks to all the people who voted for us!
